Looking for a digital way to storyboard?

I have traditionally always storyboarded the good old way with a wood or foam board and index cards and some pins. But then I came onto the new project I am currently working on - a graphic novel - and was introduced by my client to OmniGraffle, a graphic diagram and charting software.

My client uses it to create digital storyboards. I have to admit he sold me on it and here is why:

It is especially ideal for writing teams, who do not live in the same city, since even the original file is easy to share via email!

I like that I can color-code everything with the click of a mouse.

If I need to make changes, I can just duplicate the old storyboard to create a new canvas, which means I can save the old layout for reference.

In the traditional storyboarding way, I would take pictures to have a reference. But to be honest that ended up always being very confusing and did not work well for me.

Just as I mentioned above the ease of sharing the file digitally, this also applies to when you need to travel with your storyboard. I think I have foam or wood storyboards in 5 major cities at this point, all stored with friends for when I come back and need to use them again. No need for that anymore.

And last but not least, you can save a tree or two by not using index cards!

So many reason to switch digital. Give it a try: https://www.omnigroup.com/omnigraffle
